During development, Atlas consulted with leading experts in the application of surface technology. The HiJAK AC endplates incorporate a proprietary subtractive process which creates a surface condition supportive to bony apposition (1). This structure has been used successfully for decades in the dental implant industry where bony on-growth is paramount. Along with creating the appropriate microenvironment for cellular activity, the process provides an irregular pattern with “hooklike” features for both short- and long-term bonding.
